As a non-technical blogger, finding the perfect laptop can be a daunting task.
With so many options available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the technical jargon and specifications that seem to be written in a foreign language.
For blogging, it’s not necessary to keep pace with all the changes in the tech industry to start with.
Also, a blogger doesn’t need the latest technology to make it work.
Usually, the laptop has become what a desktop computer used to be.
The smart cellphone acts as a personal assistant.
That’s a preference. Other bloggers could pick different equipment.
Also, it’s better not to rush when it’s time to buy something as important for this work as your laptop.
In this blog post, I share my tips to buy a laptop I mean to use for a long time.

Pick Your Laptop Favorite Brand
Lenovo is my favorite brand for laptops. Up to now, I haven’t dealt with any major issues with the Lenovo laptops I’ve used.
Intel is my favorite brand for processors.
Pick a brand you trust. Keep buying from them.
So with the brand in mind, let’s check what a blogger needs.
What a Blogger Needs To Pick a Laptop
Software:
I use an open-source program to write content. To me, Open Office will do.
The writing process is simple unless you plan to write a book.
The marketing you choose to promote your content can create more needs than you expected.
Some people choose podcasts, mailing lists, and social media.
Blogging can be a rabbit hole. You start writing blog posts and the next thing you do is create a webinar to promote a product.
However, to keep it simple, a laptop for writing and some graphic design to support the blog posts and marketing is enough in my case.
Hardware:
I’ve had a nice experience with a laptop 15,6 inch HD Display with 16:9 widescreen. You can buy an extra bigger monitor. However, this 15.6-inch screen is enough for me.
If your blog post relies heavily on images, you need more memory, hard disk space, and a better graphic card.
I usually keep my laptop plugged in. So, I don’t worry about battery life.
A mouse is a must.
How to Choose a Specific Laptop Model
I look at the more expensive laptop models. That’s the best technology I can get. Also, it gives me specifics about the hardware that’s the best right now.
Then I match my needs with my budget to get the best technology available for the money I have for buying a laptop.
Also, I read the reviews before buying and check some unboxing videos on YouTube.
I do exhaustive research before buying a laptop.
In conclusion, choosing a laptop for a non-technical blogger doesn’t have to be an intimidating process.
Remember, it’s not about having the most advanced technology, but rather finding the right balance between functionality and affordability.
I’ll let this article here in case you run into writer’s block.
