Toilet Fill Valve and Flapper Setbacks
However, the hardness of the water or the use of strong cleaning products interfere with the life span of the fill valve and flapper.
How to Avoid Toilet Fill Valve and Flapper Setbacks
To keep the toilet fill valve and flapper working properly avoid the use of harsh chemical cleansers. Don’t use in-tank drop-in toilet bowl cleaners containing bleach or chlorine. Fluidmaster remarks it will damage tank components and void the warranty.
Several brands offer an automatic toilet cleaner to replace the bleach or chlorine in-tank drop-in bowl cleaners. Fluidmaster offers its product on Amazon. You can see the current price clicking here.

In my experience, the Fluidmaster toilet fill valve and flapper are built to last with proper care.
